The Sensory Mural Project

from June 9th to June 13th 2025, Palette Project partnered with the special needs department at Beckman High school  to design and create a sensory mural. A sensory mural is a combination or colors and textures in the form of a painting in this case on the walls of the classroom (302). The sensory mural provides a resource to students to use to release stress as well as creating a calm and decorated space. This project took several days of work from our team and was researched, created and conducted by student volunteers.

The Process

Palette project was given creative freedom with the wall and allowed to design it fully including the overall picture, textural elements and colors. There were several visions we had from other sensory walls and inspiration was drawn from several places to create the mural.

The painting process took several days and many volunteers which included board members and others. In addition, all four walls of the classroom were painted.

A special thanks to Mrs. Anderson, the special education teacher who supported Palette Project in this initiative and made it possible! Also, thank you to all the student volunteers who helped bring this vision to life!
